Love Does Not Envy
Where identity with Christ is established it eliminates the “What about me”
consideration that completely debilitates love towards someone that is
blessed.
Love cannot exist where envy resides. It does not look toward self
when someone else occupies a desired position.
Love closes the door to the dangerous and destructive thoughts and
actions that are envy’s cohorts.
It maintains an atmosphere of healthy and productive peace, while
uprooting and repelling soul-destructive bitterness.
Actions of love are enabled while ill will and harmful actions are no
longer possible.
Application:
Prayer – “You say that I am complete in Christ and don’t lack for any good
thing in You, Father. I ask You to fill me with this truth so much so that I can
no longer feel frustration with the success of another. Preserve me in Your
peace and propel me in Your love towards those for whom I may otherwise
hold envy. Keep me from stepping down a path that would be destructive
to myself and those I am to love.”
Intentional action: After affirming and establishing an aspect of who you
are in Christ, consider someone in a position of success, repelling all envy
and enabling love in faith.
By praying in the Spirit allow Him to affirm and establish an identity that
can no longer be disrupted in peace by the success of anyone else. While
praying, allow love to grow in that same place that envy used to flourish.
