Love Does Not Dishonor
Love considers the feelings and preferences of others and does not act in
a way that would devalue them (dishonor).
Where there is love there is no intentional behavior that might cause
someone to feel degraded or less of themselves (dishonored).
With dishonor, there is no capacity for the care or service of love.
Honor in one area does not make up for even a small amount of
dishonor in another.
For love to exist at all, dishonor cannot exist at all.
Application:
Prayer – “Father, help me to consider and value things that are of
importance and worth to others. Show me how to act in a way that would
only be honorable, valuing and loving them above self.”
Intentional action: Consider someone that is from a different culture or way
of life and find out more how they might expect to be treated.
While praying in the Spirit, ask for help in becoming more and more
sensitive to how actions are received by others. Acquire a heart that cares
more about their feelings than any gratification that might come from dishonoring them.
