Isaiah 30:21 (NKJV)

21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.

You might think Isaiah was prophecying about the GPS, that there would be a voice (maybe even the gender, accent, and language of your choice) providing personal instructions at every turn. This is certainly one of the great blessings of this tech age we live in, but what he was referring to is much more substantial and reliable than the best device or app. We have an inward voice of the Spirit that has come to be our faithful Guide and help. Not only does He know every turn, but He knows every circumstance and potential threat that is not just at the corners but every portion of the route. Much like the voice of the device, though, there is a need for diminishing the volume of other voices if His is even to be audible. We may be hearing, but understanding and responding appropriately requires silencing road noise and other sound sources. This promise is ours for this day - His voice guiding us at every step. May every adjustment reflect His wisdom as it is clearly heard above the surrounding din.

Fasting:

Galatians 5:22-24
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

"My life is a continual production of the Spirit’s fruit as I am continually purged from any cravings of the flesh."

Praise:

Psalm 145:5
"God, I love to meditate on Your glory, splendor, majesty, and miracles."

Identity:

Galatians 2:20
"I am dead to my old sinful nature and alive unto God in Christ."

Understanding:

Colossians 3:16
"I let the Word of Christ dwell in me richly in all wisdom and understanding."

Wholeness:

Psalm 103:2-5
"I bless the Lord who forgives all my sins, heals all my sicknesses and satisfies my soul with good things."

Provision:

Philippians 4:19
"My God shall supply all my need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

This reminds me of the verse that says,”we overcome evil with good.” The silencing of the road noise comes from His voice being louder than the other voices. When circumstances are loud or our focus is only on those things that are seemingly “the problem,” they become bigger than anything else in our lives and it’s hard to see or hear God in the “midst of the mess.”
I’m glad we have an Answer. The ability to train our eyes and ears to see His faithfulness and His power GREATER than anything else we are facing.
