Day 7 - Your Face

Psalms 27:7–8 (NKJV)
7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
8 When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”

There was a skilled craftsman who was well known for his woodworking. His furniture and cabinetry were sought after by people all over town. Because of the attention given to his ability to produce unique and beautiful hardwood creations, however, few knew something about him that was far more valuable than the work of his hands.

Most of his clients would simply collect their orders, make payment, and gratefully go on their way. There were a few, though, who discovered a great source of wisdom and counsel by responding to the simple phrase printed on his logo: “Always here for you.” What they received from face-to-face time with the maestro transformed not only their living spaces, but their lives. While some never noticed the invitation and others assumed it referred only to his craftsmanship, a small number found answers and direction that changed everything.

All who are privileged to live among God’s creation are recipients of His handiwork — a world and nature created for our benefit and blessing. Most gladly receive these blessings without cost. Yet there are a select few who respond to a simple invitation that has been plainly written all along: “Seek My face.” In this invitation, God offers not merely what comes from His hands, but the very source of life from which His works flow.

The temptation is strong to receive the blessings and move on with a life merely touched by His goodness. But to do so is to miss a face-to-face encounter that does not merely supplement life — it transforms it. From His hands come the blessings that comfort and enhance life from without; from His face come the wisdom and revelation that transform life from within. His works without His face will fade, but His face grants entrance into an eternal encounter with His workmanship.
