2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (TLB)
14 Don’t be teamed with those who do not love the Lord, for what do the people of God have in common with the people of sin? How can light live with darkness?
15 And what harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a Christian be a partner with one who doesn’t believe?
16 And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For you are God’s temple, the home of the living God, and God has said of you, “I will live in them and walk among them, and I will be their God and they shall be my people.”
17 That is why the Lord has said, “Leave them; separate yourselves from them; don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you
18 and be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters.”
To go anywhere with someone, it really helps when there is agreement on the destination. The route, the means, and the stops along the way are also critical points of agreement between traveling partners if the trip is to be peaceful and successful. This also applies to business, marriage, and government. Any progress will require some agreement on where you’re going and how you’re getting there. This is where the choice of traveling partners is critical. Their beliefs, hopes, and dreams will affect destination preferences and all the options along the way. Where there are differences, compromises or separations will result in the termination of the partnership. Others may come along for the ride, but for the critical choices of direction and method, like-hearted partners must agree.
Amos 3:3 (NLT)
3 Can two people walk together without agreeing on the direction?
Entrance into the kingdom is venturing into a realm of great common destination, purpose, and method. Walking in God’s kingdom is moving with Him towards His heart’s plan. Agreeing with Him is not optional but essential to any hope of remaining and functioning there. Our druthers or appetites will not modify his vision and preferences for getting there, and having Him as the God He desires to be is accepting His preferences for all areas of life – business, relational, and leisure. Agreeing with Him will also include agreeing with the walk of all other kingdom walkers. To agree with Him is to agree with each other. This is why our other chosen partners are important to Him. For Him to effectively influence our choices, He must be the guide we follow above all others. If we walk with someone not in agreement with Him, it becomes detrimental to our God-helped progress. God’s best is our experience where our nearness to Him separates us from those who don’t believe in Him or care about being near Him. Letting go of unbelief and its filthy preferences makes way for faith and the Father’s kingdom plan.
"To know the nearness, guidance, and wisdom of my Father God, I choose to agree with Him as my partner and separate myself from the world and all disagreements."
Psalms 119:147-148, Hebrews 4:16
"My praise will be for the acts of my God’s might and the excellence of His overpowering greatness."
Psalm 150:2
"I have boldness in the day of judgment, because His love is perfected in me and as He is so am I in this world."
1 John 4:17
"I am not limited to a worldly understanding, because I have an unction from the Holy One that gives me understanding in all things."
1 John 2:20
"The very God of peace has sanctified me wholly, preserving my whole spirit, soul and body blameless unto the coming of Christ."
1 Thessalonians 5:23
"Everything in the earth and heavens is the Lord’s. Therefore, I cannot lack in any material thing with Him as my Provider."
Psalm 89:11
