Psalms 112:7-8 (KJV)
7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.
8 His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies.
The “fixed” and “established” heart is kept from fear that disturbing evil reports and threatening foes might otherwise instill. The mind quiets, the heart calms, and breathing indicates sleep has begun when all locks have been secured against intruders. Acquiring a well-paying job alleviates concerns of financial devastation and loss. Faithful and consistent study of course material removes any consternation over its required exam. For every challenge, there is a way to see only victory on the other side with no trace of fear’s paralyzing concern. Revelation of that way and faithful walking in it is the trust that frees from all fear of failure. It fixes the heart in a place of confident peace.
So what is happening in this trust with regard to other behaviors and actions? For trust in the “fix” to be effective, it must replace other “fixes.” Laziness and forgetfulness will not remain where a lock is faithfully secured. Commitment to entertainment and leisure will give way to the diligent labor of the financially sound. The prepared student has replaced reliance on apathetic arrogance with the necessary process of inputting information. The heart that is secure and confident on the day of testing is the heart that has learned to rely only on success’s requirements.
1 John 4:17-18 (TLB)
17 And as we live with Christ, our love grows more perfect and complete; so we will not be ashamed and embarrassed at the day of judgment, but can face him with confidence and joy because he loves us and we love him too.
18 We need have no fear of someone who loves us perfectly; his perfect love for us eliminates all dread of what he might do to us. If we are afraid, it is for fear of what he might do to us and shows that we are not fully convinced that he really loves us.
While replacing reliance on other actions is necessary to care for life’s other test requirements, this is also essential for entering and abiding in God’s kingdom. Living in Christ and growing in His love is letting go of reliance on other passions and cravings to serve Him and His. The heart that is fixed on Him isn’t occupied with its own desires and unavailable for Him and His body. The trusting heart has developed a lifestyle of replacing selfish appetites with kingdom service. Confidence in times of difficulty will come from every choice of time given to His over ours. Perfection in this walk of love is “fixing” in a heart that will be free from all fear, making every choice from a kingdom motive that will prove victorious on the day of testing before Him.
"As a child of God, my choices are Spirit led seeds of blessing, as the cursed flesh ones are denied and put to death."
