Proverbs 16:9 (NKJV)
9 A man's heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.
It does no good to possess a map, GPS, destination references, or means of getting there if there is no desire, dream, or desire to get off the couch and go somewhere. Without a heart to take the steps and experience the journey, no amount of instruction on how to do so will be effective in the least. However, when hope comes alive in a heart that comes alive with vision for what lies beyond what is comfortable and known, there will be a pattern developed of preparing for the adventure.
As great as God's plans and purposes are for our lives, they will never be forced upon us. Without a heart of desire that is moved to take action, He will never have anything to work with. But, when we begin to hang out with the One who is all about pressing the boundaries and discovering/forming new places, it will no longer be possible to be satisfied with what used to be enough. The heart will be driven to see itself rising and venturing out, and it is then that the Father will ensure that the steps of those who love Him are secure and ever-effectively advancing to those desired destinations. He will not force us to set about planning, but when we do, in His presence, there will be ability, wisdom, and provision to arrive in the best of form.
