2 Corinthians 3:18 (NLT)
18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
It’s interesting how styles that you thought you’d never see again come back around after a few years. From my youth of the 70s, there was a distinct influence on styles by the movements in the culture. There were bell-bottomed and hot pants, tie-die shirts, polyester, disco, bright colors, glitter, satin, and platform shoes. You could always tell, though, who someone was infatuated with by their choice of clothing and hairstyles. The onset of hippy, revolution, and rock-and-roll influencers was reflected in the followers who did their best to look like their favorite personalities. You could tell who people were looking at by how they looked themselves. And, as these different throwbacks begin to surface again, it’s an indication that somebody who is somebody somewhere has been seen donning themselves like that again. You get to experience that VIP’s choice of expression through the one who has been looking at them and is reflecting it before you.
For the world, there is a vision of the King, His nature, and His likeness that is seen through the reflection of Him represented in those who have been looking at Him. Though there may be a claim of knowing Him, the true image of where eyes have been fixed will be revealed in the image reflected by the whole spirit, soul, and body. It will be most difficult for there to be any viewing of Him through someone infatuated with worldly characters, continually preoccupied with the donning and activities of their favorite entertainers and performers. For who Jesus is and what He is like to be seen and experienced, there will be someone whose heart has been fixed on His glory to the exclusion of worldly glories. It will be someone who has become infatuated with their place apart from the world, beyond the veil of separation provided in the blood of Jesus, that has allowed them to behold the beauty, purity, and majesty of His holiness. The degree of their fixation will be represented in the clarity of the image they will reflect.
The purpose of this time will be known in breakthroughs and demonstrations of signs and wonders, but the most significant effect in prayer and fasting will be known in the transformation of our image as a result of fixation on His glory beyond the veil. The world will see not just what He can do but His very image and likeness in those who have diverted their gaze from earthly somebodies to the One who will change everything where His glory is seen.
