1 Corinthians 2:13 NIV
This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
Words spoken reveal their tutor. It is most difficult to sit under the tutelage of an admired, persuasive and gifted instructor for an extended period of time without it affecting what comes out of your own mouth. Then, what comes out of your mouth isn’t just sounds, but world-transforming force. This can be seen very clearly in the educational system of this country. There are concepts commonly spoken of and practiced in our society today that are the result of what has been taught for many decades now in our universities and even into the lower grades of public education. Subjects of sexuality and nationalism that were rarely breached in the colleges and never in the grade schools of 50 years ago were also of little influence upon our nation, its strength, and its unity. Through the years, however, what bombs and bullets have failed to accomplish has begun to take place as a result of simply adjusting what is being taught - and therefore, what is being spoken. Ultimately, it will be the words of division, strife, separation, and intolerance that render any walls of defense and security powerless. But, words only reveal what has been taught.
Instruction of human wisdom can only result in words void of any productive or unifying fruit. However, words that come from time spent under the influence of the Spirit’s wisdom are words that cannot help but establish security, build strength, and reconcile the greatest differences. There can be no freedom experienced in the words of human taught wisdom, while it is impossible to not experience freedom, liberty, joy and peace as a result of Spirit taught speaking. For there to be movement made towards a life lived in abundant spiritual realities, there will first be an adjustment made in the words that will transport that movement by adjusting the source of instruction. Spirit-taught - life and rest vs human-taught - death and anxiety.
