Presentation for Transformation

The condition of the mind and an ability to encounter and live in God’s perfect will is directly contingent upon the presentation of the body. God’s will is not inevitable for the one who has not entered into position for it to be fulfilled.

Romans 12:1-2 NIV
[1] Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God---this is your true and proper worship. [2] Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is---his good, pleasing and perfect will.

The condition of the mind and an ability to encounter and live in God’s perfect will is directly contingent upon the presentation of the body. God’s will is not inevitable for the one who has not entered into position for it to be fulfilled.

We have been members of a health club for many years now, but I have gone through varying degrees of utilizing my access to its facilities - and therefore benefiting from its health benefits. There is no doubt that bulging muscles and optimal flexibility and motion are the potential for me in my membership. The whole club, with its numerous locations, training classes and extensive equipment, is prepared and ready to provide me with the necessary requirements for a very healthy body. They even have nutritional products available for ensuring the proper intake. However, as much as I’m aware of the possibilities there at the gym, and though I’m quite aware of the consequences awaiting my staying away from it, there is no benefit to my membership until I present my body as a sacrifice to the discipline it inspires and enables.

There is an atmosphere of honor and elevation of appreciation for what is ours in Christ that comes with the revelation of God’s mercy. To be aware of it only and not access what has been made available in it, though, is so much like my health club membership; it will be of no value or effect until my body gets involved. There is something very powerful about my whole lifestyle and ability to experience God’s will for my life that begins transformation when my body begins to spend some time, not just doing whatever it wants, but yielding to the will and purpose of God. This is more than just religious submission. This is the worship that takes a God-provision into a God-encounter, where the magnitude of His will is enabled in life. Apart from the presentation of the body, though, there can be no renewal of the mind and no health in the body or in life.
